Sadly, we have to inform you that the Saabengineer Olle Granlund has left us. Olle was hired by Saab in 1964 and was one of the “few selected” by Rolf Mellde to work with the installation of Fords V4 engine in Saab 95, 96 and the Sonett.

He continued his career in the drivetrain department and in 1986 he was appointed TD (head of drivetrain development) at the Saab technical development centre in Trollhättan.

Olle took the initiative to “Saab turbo in the long run” where three Saab 9000 T16:s were driven flat out for 100.000 kms at the Talladega Speedway in Alabama, USA. All cars passed the test!

Olles career within Saab continued as project leader for the Saab 9-5 that was introduced in 1997 and produced to 2010!

After his retirement, Olle was heavily involved in the Saab Car Museum and the Saab club for veterans that was of utmost importance for the Saab Car Museums future after the Saab Automobile AB:s bankruptcy in 2011. His passion, commitment and interest for Saab, the technologies and the people around the car were unbroken right to the end.

Olle Granlund had the genuine Saab Spirit.

Our condolences goes to his wife Britt and their sons Lars and Ola with families.
